Getting Tight Ship

When can I get Tight Ship?

Soon. It's coming to iPhone, iPad and Android, and it grew out of the app we use aboard Warrior. Join the list and we'll send one email when it's ready for you.

Will it work for my boat?

It was built on a Leopard 45, which has a fully drawn layout today. Your boat gets its own layout, from a plan you upload or a drawn model, and you can add your engines, equipment and jobs by hand from day one.

Who makes Tight Ship?

We do: Dave and Beth Mortell, living aboard SV Warrior. Tight Ship is made by Sailing Life Warriors, a dba of The Life Warriors, LLC.

Offline and your data

Does it really work with no signal?

Yes. Everything you do, whether that's logging a job, marking something done or adding a cost, saves on your device first. There's no read-only mode. Sync between devices is a paid Captain feature: your devices catch up when you're back in range.

Does voice logging need the internet?

Tight Ship reads your sentence on the device, with no Tight Ship server involved. The speech-to-text comes from your phone's own dictation, and you can always type the sentence instead.

Where does my data live?

On the free Deckhand tier, on your device only. You can back it up to a file whenever you like. Sync between your own devices is a paid Captain feature. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

Plans

What will Captain and Admiral cost?

Deckhand is free. Captain is $49.99 a year or $5.99 a month, and Admiral is $99.99 a year or $9.99 a month, both with a 14-day free trial. People who join the list before launch get Captain for $34.99 a year as Founding Crew, locked in for as long as they stay subscribed. Compare the plans.

What's free on Deckhand?

One boat on one device with what's due, jobs and the logbook, voice logging, the boat map, the haul-out planner and budget, safety gear expiry, checklists, the service sheet for a yard, and backups to a file. It all works with no signal. See the full comparison.

Do I need a Victron system?

No. Live power is an optional Captain feature for boats with a Victron Cerbo GX. Everything else works without it.

Ideas and feedback

Tell us what your boat needs from inside the app, in a sentence or by voice. Good ideas from the fleet go into the next update, not onto a list that waits a year.
